Site Info

Your host is Kevin, an artist and writer from the San Francisco Bay Area. I was born on my Great Grandmother’s birthday and was lucky to have her until I was 26. When she passed, I inherited what everyone in the family called “Gramma’s Magic Yellow Pot.” The favorite dish served in that Descoware Citro yellow oval roaster was peach cobbler.

My Great Grandma Gave me her descoware casserole dish today, I remember it always being on her stove with something yummy in it. I did some research today and could not find anything like it on ebay, Thanks to this site i found it. It is from the Markley set. It is absolutly beautiful. Thanks for your site, it was very helpful in my research.

I was making my usual thrifting rounds in Ventura, Ca., when I spotted a heavy blue lidded enamel pan. After taking a look at it I knew it was well-made. So glad I picked it up for a mere $3.95! I was thrilled to find your site and see exactly what I had found. I took photos to send to you for your site–my piece is a medium saucepan with lid of the “Tulip Blue” pattern–but could not get your email address to work.

    Hi there,

I have a Descoware Dutch Oven in the Flame color and I just dropped it (by accident) and noticed that it has a crack in it! I do not want to throw it away because it has a lot of meaning to me and my family. I’ve tried looking for a new one but I cannot seem to find the one I am looking for. Is there any way I can get it repaired?

    Did Descoware make a wok?

    • I’ve never seen one, but then–I’ve can’t remember seeing any enameled woks. A wok would have been a pretty rare item in an American kitchen before 1980.

Hi, I just bought my first Desocware which is pan and skillet set (pan doubles as a lid) in yellow at an estate sale. In researching descoware I can’t find excactly what I have. My question is why do I not see any other pieces anywhere that has the same bottom on the pan? The bottom is waffle-like cast iron with Descoware embossed in it and the other pertinent info. Any info??? Thanks in advance.

    • Hey Marion

The links on the right have lots of photos including a few sections that include the griddle bottom like yours. The pieces that you have are later manufacture–and that’s good news. They were made late 60s early 70s and should last a bit longer.

    Hello Kevin -

Many years ago my grandmother’s best friend decided to stop cooking and she gave me her treasured orange descoware set – several pristine skillets w/ wood handles and 2 large lidded pots. This lady had been quite the cook and hostess!!! I never used them, and just now pulled them out of storage. They are gorgeous! But I am haunted by my inability to remember her admonishment to me as she handed them over. She said – I never EVER used them….. – and I can’t recall if she said on the stove or in the oven!!! The bottoms and exteriors or pristine, so I’m guessing she never used them stovetop?!!

    Any input?

    Thanks,
    Carol

  10. Hi Kevin,
All these years I thought my greatest rice cooking pot was a Le Creuset….but, today, called them to get a replacement since the inside of my 4qt dutch oven is marked, I saw on the back, the Descoware label. No more Descoware. But, truly, this is the best rice cooking pot I have ever used for my brood of 6 kids who are all gone, married, parents and now getting older with me! So glad to see your site…lucky you to have gotten your Granny’s pot. Even with the pock marks on the inside my pot works great…I would love others and will search online. Thank you.

    Hey Kevin,
I just posted more or less the following on another page, but I wanted to make sure you’d get this and perhaps reply. I recently found a 2 1/2 or 3 qt round Dutch oven in dark pink, close to rose. It is unmarked buyt has the telltale lid handle. Further confusing the issue is that the top of the lid has two concentric raised circles. Shed any light?
    Thanks,
    Bill Holland

    HI KEVIN,

I am taking the Dreamweaver classes for the fourth time! I am finally getting starting building a site. I am in the Ventura County area below Santa Barbara, and above Los Angeles. I love what you have done with your site! So, we have 2 things in common!

Are you working on MAC or PC?

    I’m a Mac!

    Candy

PS I just noticed you mentioned me in the site, and I thank you! I will kept looking for more ads and photos of other items.

    • Hey Candy

You might want to give WordPress a try… I quit using DreamWeaver a couple years back. It’s great for clients since they get their own edit button. Let me know when you have a site going and I’ll add a link. I really appreciate that you’ve sent pictures.
